Your go-to place for realistic and actionable nutrition advice.

Meet Mark
Hi! I’m Mark. I’m a registered dietitian who loves food—and loves helping people feel confident around food. With a background in nutrition, education, and clinical care, I specialize in turning complex science and online nutrition noise into practical, realistic guidance you can actually use in your daily life.
I take a weight-neutral, collaborative approach to care and believe in setting achievable goals, accountability, and meeting you where you’re at—working with you, not telling you what to do. My role is to support your goals and cheer you on every step of the way.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, reading, traveling, spending time with family, and staying active in whatever way speaks to me!
My philosophy on weight loss…
I get it. We all want to lose weight. We all think our swim suits don’t fit quite right. We’re all constantly reminded by the folks on screen or on social media or at the gym that we should be skinnier, hotter, sexier. I get it. Been there (am there?). And while I do believe weight loss is a worthy pursuit for those that want to pursue it, I don’t believe in the more traditional methods of weight loss that involve restriction.
Restriction of food, of calories, of carbohydrates… it’s a restriction of joy and happiness, really. Because food is so much more than calories and nutrients. It is tradition, it is family, it is community, it is fuel. When we embark on a weight loss journey that focuses on restriction, we are embarking on a journey that, (though may result in short term weight loss), research shows again and again and again, will ultimately fail. And not only will the journey be miserable, but the end point will make you even more miserable.
I believe in a weight loss strategies that focus on overall health and wellness, that focus on sustainability and practicality, that tip their hats to the joy that food brings, and honours it for what it is. In saying this, do I believe that one can go hog-wild and eat an entire chocolate cake whenever they so please because it brings them joy? Absolutely not. Do I instead believe that all foods fit, and that the person who enjoys a slice of chocolate cake now and again can still be incredibly successful on their weight loss journey? Absolutely yes.
It’s not about taking food away, taking calories away, taking joy away. It’s about adding to our food, to our meals, to our recipes. It’s about improving or enhancing our diet through targeted strategies that increase the nutritional value of your day to day. And it’s about allowing ourselves to eat a cookie, without shame, because cookies are delicious and cookies bring joy. It’s about being just a little kinder to ourselves and those curves we see in the mirror. It’s about enjoying our health and wellness journey, knowing that every choice we make is helping us live happier, healthier (and yes, perhaps a little bit lower-weight) lives.
